Doctoral Students in Almaty at the CIOM Platform: A New Format for Supporting Young Researchers

On 11 November, the first doctoral meet-up aimed at advancing social research was held at the CIOM office. The format was initiated by the CIOM team and supported by Director G.T. Alimbekova. The meet-ups will be held monthly on the second Thursday of each month and will include presentations, methodological discussions, publication planning, and a feedback platform.

Adolescents and youth of Kazakhstan on health and risks: the results of a new study

An analytical report on the state of reproductive health of adolescents and youth in Kazakhstan has been published in Almaty. The study covered 2,778 respondents aged 15-24 and identified key problems: early sexual initiation, low contraceptive use, poor knowledge of HIV and barriers to seeking medical help. Rural and Kazakh-speaking youth are particularly vulnerable. The results highlight the need for systemic measures to reduce risks and promote the health of younger generations.

Kazakhstan Sociologists on the Global Sociological Stage: Key Themes from the ISA Forum in Morocco

From July 6 to 11, 2025, the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology was held in Rabat, Morocco, gathering over 4,200 scholars from more than 100 countries. For the first time, this major academic event took place in the MENA region and on the African continent an important symbol of the growing global representation of the Global South. The forum's central theme, "Knowing Justice in the Anthropocene", called on the sociological community not only to reflect on social inequalities but also to reassess fundamental concepts of social justice in the context of ecological and technological transformations.
